Job overview

Are you passionate about Occupational Therapy and looking for a role that offers flexible working and also pays HCAS? Would you like to work for one of the few trusts rated as “Outstanding” by the CQC?

We are currently recruiting for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities in the Windsor and Maidenhead area (WAM).

We are a friendly joint Multi Professional Team of Health and Social Care Staff, who work across a range of settings from people’s homes, residential and supported living services and day services. You will cover a wide variety of areas from skill development to equipment provision, both individual and group work and sensory assessments and support.

No two days are the same and we are looking for someone with passion for their work, creative and flexible in thought who is open to working holistically and jointly with our supportive Team. You will be passionate about advocating for and enabling people with learning disabilities to achieve, be healthy and have the same opportunities as anyone else. In response we will provide you with a supportive Team where you can reflect, learn and develop.

The core hours for this role are 9-5 Monday to Friday and we are open to suggestions of flexible working. You will be based at St Marks Hospital, Maidenhead primarily supporting the WAM CTPLD team, however there may be occasions when you will be required to provide Trust wide cover.

Main duties of the job

  • Under the support of the band 6 OT, to work autonomously, but as part of a Team to help plan the development of the Specialist Occupational Therapy Service in WAM CTPLD.

  • To work with all parties to assess, plan, implement and review Occupational Therapy treatment plans for people with Learning Disabilities.

  • With supervision from the Band 6 OT, to manage a caseload of service users with complex needs, using evidence based/person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

  • To work alongside the client, the families, paid carers and professionals involved to create the best agreed and bespoke care for people with Learning disabilities.

  • Provide specialist clinical advice, training (as agreed) and information to colleagues, carers and other professionals, including students.

  • To identify relevant goals and carry out care plans / outcome measures on each new referral at the beginning, middle and discharge.

  • To maintain accurate client records and an up to date CPD.

  • To work in a multi-disciplinary way with an array of professionals.
