Job overview

Our Central Lancashire Adult Community Learning Disability Team are looking for a Learning Disability Nurse. If you are a band 5 Learning Disability nurse and would like to join a community team or a student Learning Disability nurse due to qualify soon, then we would love to hear from you.

The team is hoping to recruit a Learning Disability nurse who is adaptable, highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and is passionate about working with adults with Learning Disabilities.  The Learning Disability Service strives to provide a forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with people with Learning Disabilities, their families, carers and other agencies.  You will work within a multidisciplinary team providing clinical support around physical health, mental health, and positive behaviour support. 

 

Main duties of the job

To support the provision of a community service to individuals with a learning disability in a defined area of Lancashire, in order that health care needs are met and contractual agreements fulfilled. 

 

A registered learning disability nurse, with knowledge of health policy and legislation applicable to people with a learning disability and/or Autism. Adaptability, good communication skills and self–motivation are essential, alongside skills in working with people who have complex health needs, challenging behaviour and/or Autism, including demonstration that practice is evidence based and innovative.

 

The post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload alongside supervision of junior members of staff.
