Job overview
12 month Fixed Term Consultant in Rheumatology
“Best of both” at the Whittington – The Whittington Hospital is a unique place. It combines the academic ethos of a University Hospital with the friendliness of a Rural DGH. The number of students and junior doctors who return as registrars and consultants is testament to the positive working environment and the collegiate atmosphere that has been created. Add in the lowest Standardised Mortality Ratio in the country and you have a hospital that is a great place to work.
Our Rheumatology service cares for people with: Inflammatory and degenerative joint disease, auto-inflammatory connective tissue problems and metabolic bone disorders. The team of consultants, registrars and specialist nurses care for adults in outpatient clinics at Whittington Health and covers hospital inpatients and urgent referrals from GPs and the emergency department. Working for our organisation
Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
