Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the Directorate of Maternity & Neonatology within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Maternity Service at Imperial College Healthcare Trust is one of the largest services in the UK providing tertiary Maternity services across two hospital sites; Queen Charlottes and Chelsea Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. The directorate also has a Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Queen Charlotte’s site and a level 2 Neonatal Baby unit at St Mary’s hospital site.

 

The service provides antenatal services across both sites and also in the community.  There are two birth centres (one on each site), as well as the delivery suites and support to home births.  Postnatal services are provided within the children centres in the community.  The Directorate also supports pre-pregnancy planning, parent education and breast feeding post birth. The post holder will work alongside their management colleagues and lead consultants and midwives for the specialist services they are responsible for.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will report to the General Manager and will provide appropriate support to the General Manager and the Clinical Director in the delivery of all operational functions in the directorate. The individual will have responsibility for defined services and allocated resources. A specific requirement of this post is to lead the business management team.

  • Senior management experience and demonstrable capability and capacity in a complex healthcare environment

  • Experience of business planning within the context of the NHS
