We have an exciting opportunity to join our Band 6 Lead Pharmacy Technician leadership team 
To manage the day to day running of the Royal South Hants Dispensary. To contribute to and support the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager - Dispensaries, in the ongoing review and strategic development of the service, ensuring services are responsive to need and that staff working within the department are developed to deliver agreed services.

 We have a friendly and developing team of registered Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Support Workers who work alongside a number of trainee pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are seeking a full time (37.5hrs per week)  Band 6 Pharmacy Technician to lead our team and support pharmaceutical services across both primary and secondary care sectors in our dispensary-based environment. 

In a challenging but rewarding post you would be at the forefront of an ever-changing department, meeting the needs of different service users and further developing an established service. 

You would be managing the day to day running of the department, prioritising workload, optimising  workflow and supporting all grades of staff to deliver our  services

You must be a GPhC registered technician, hold a national recognised checking qualification and have completed a foundation management course or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working with a wide range of people including patients, doctors, and representing the pharmacy at service user meetings.

Occasional off site travelling may be required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 

We are committed to 7 day working across Royal South Hants and Southampton General Hospital dispensaries and as part of this you will be expected to participate in the weekend, late night and bank holiday rotas.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent Technician registered with GPhC.
  • One of the following additional specialist pharmacy qualifications Recognised accuracy checking qualification/accreditation. Medicines management qualification. TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload.
  • Extensive post qualification Pharmacy knowledge /experience in one or more areas of pharmacy specialism.
  • Experience of staff management/operational workload and workforce supervision
  • Recruitment and selection experience
  • Competent in the accurate supply of medicines (in hospital or community pharmacy)
  • Evidence of commitment to relevant ongoing CPD and personal and professional development
  • Dealing with and resolving customers/patients’ complaints
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Additional specialist pharmacy qualifications e.g. Completed APTUK Foundation Framework Recognised accuracy checking qualification/accreditation. Medicines management qualification. TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload. Quality/Service improvement Qualification
  • Awareness of current professional regulations/issues
  • Experience of JAC or similar computer stock control system
