Practice Educator (Adult Nursing)

Our ambition is to make working in Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust an attractive career opportunity for clinical staff from Health Care Assistant through to Advanced Practitioner.

In order to help achieve this ambition we are looking for Practice Educator (Adult Nursing) to join the CLCH Academy to promote and facilitate practice development within our community nursing teams. We are looking for a strong leader for the Practice Development Nurses and for someone to co-ordinate and support nurses on post-registration programmes. 

As a Practice Educator you will join the CLCH Academy Team where you will be supported with your academic and career development. So, if you are an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced community nurse (Adult Nursing setting) and want to expand your leadership and management skills within a supportive team then this could be the opportunity for you.

Main duties of the job

The Academy Practice Educator (Adult) will work within the Academy working closely with the Academy leads to plan, implement, and evaluate the development of staff. They will work with the Academy leads in supporting Academy workstreams in planning, coordinating and evaluation of education and training for clinical staff. This will include project managing delivery of high-quality training in all aspects of clinical and professional education.

The Practice Educator will be expected to: 
•    Promote high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical and educational expertise 
•    Facilitate the creation of a positive learning environment in the work place where staff development is encouraged and supported 
•    Facilitate the education and continuing professional development for all levels of registered and non-registered nursing staff across adult clinical services.
•    Work alongside Academy staff undertaking a key role in practice development.
•    Translate Academy priorities such as changes in nursing standards, new clinical roles such as Apprenticeships into designated services.

The Practice Educator will work closely with clinical services ensuring that national and local workforce and development strategies are aligned, communicated, and embedded into services with the specific focus on staff development training and quality.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and Trust Policies and Procedures.
• To ensure that own clinical practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge and evidence based practice.
• To work clinically with PDNs on a regular basis, supporting teams and individual nurses in developing their practice.
• To enable staff and PDNs to identify opportunities to develop clinical practice and support them to make changes in clinical practice. 
• To enable access to resources and evidence to support the development of clinical practice within nursing .

  • Registered Nurse on NMC register
  • Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent
  • Clinical Leadership training
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development

  • Post Graduate Certificate of Education or equivalent.
