Senior Community Physiotherapist

JOB PURPOSE

 

The Senior Physiotherapist will assess and treat referred patients using evidence based practice and clinical experience, within various rotational clinical areas of community units/hospitals and patient homes.

This could be a rotational or static post within a Community Therapy Team (CTT).

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

·         To assess and treat patient’s in various clinical areas, including clinical units and patient homes. 

·         To support the team in the organisation and provision of an efficient, high quality and co-ordinated physiotherapy service for patients on relevant clinical area. 

·         To undertake a defined clinical caseload, as directed by team lead.

·         To ensure that patient and service standards and priorities are met. 

·         To provide clinical supervision to assigned junior physiotherapists, technical instructors, physiotherapy assistants and students.

·         To participate, and teach where competent, in training sessions such as on-call training, team in-service and Trust mandatory training.

·         Be an active part of the weekend service.

Requirement to be available across 7 days and flexible working hours as service need requires.

Community Therapy Team (CTT)

Our vacancy

 

We are looking for a Band 6, or an experienced Band 5 Physiotherapist, to join our friendly and supportive Community Therapy Team (CTT).

 

Role summary

 

The post holder will be working in the Community Therapy Team based in SW Surrey covering Guildford and Waverley areas. We provide Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to adults in their community, including those who have neurological conditions, frailty or have had orthopaedic surgery.  Our main base is at Milford Hospital, with a satellite office at Guildford.  The role involves providing rehabilitation to patients in their own homes and providing support to staff as required.

 

The post holder will be supported to further develop their knowledge and skills in their chosen area of speciality.  They will have professional responsibility for themselves and for the staff they supervise. They will be expected to contribute to the on-going development of clinical practice, standards, research, as well as policies, protocols, guidelines and service development.

Essential qualities

 

The post holder should have previous experience in working with patients with neurological, musculoskeletal /orthopaedic, and complex elderly conditions.

 

A Band 5 on a development pathway can be considered for this post. Confirmation of progression to Band 6 will be subject to achievement of key objectives, depending on person’s knowledge and experience.

 

You will be expected to work with the team leaders to promote an efficient, effective and productive rehab pathway from triage to discharge.   

 

You will need to be able to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to promote innovation and improvement within CTT.  You must be well organised and an excellent communicator and be willing to work flexibly. Time management skills and the ability to deal with caseload/staff demands are essential.

 

Applicants must have HCPC registration to be considered for this post and have had experience working within the NHS in a clinical role. You will need to be able to travel independently between sites and to patient’s homes.
