Applicants are invited for the post of Fixed Term Appointment (STRH) covering a Training Post in Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Wales to commence as soon as possible and is until 4th February 2025 Please note that in addition to the essential qualifications given in the attached person specification,

The post is European Working Time Directive and New Deal compliant and attracts a supplementary payment for out-of-hours work at Band 2B

 

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for the post of FTSA STRH level  in the department of Ophthalmology, based at University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff) and Princess of Wales Hospital (Bridgend) to commence on the below date periods:

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent Medical Qualification
  • success in part 1 FRCOphth examination
  • At least 24 months of experience in Ophthalmology not including foundation modules
  • Clinical knowledge and capacity to apply sound clinical judgement
  • Capacity to manage time and information
  • Demonstrate initiative and resilience to cope with setbacks and rapidly changing cirucmstances
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, e.g degrees, prizes, awards, distinctions, publications, presentations, other achievements
  • Evidence of ability to perform ophthalmic procedures
  • Able to demonstrate evidence of delivery of teaching, including feedback
