This post is for an fixed term period until August 2025 within our excellent Gynaecology and Obstetrics department. Suitable for FY2 level doctor who wishes to gain some experience within our division or a career trainee who wishes to gain more experience prior to application for specialist training.

Main duties of the job

The post has been designed to develop skills of doctors interesting in Obstetrics and Gynaecology care. The role aims to build upon skills and knowledge gained at foundation level and develop these further to help prepare the doctor to enter specialty training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The rota has been developed specifically for doctors working at an FY2/ST1 level to allow exposure to the broad range of the specialty, while supporting our Maternity triage service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable criteria
  • BSc or equivalent
  • Distinction/Honours/Prizes/Publications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Satisfactory completion of F1 year (or equivalent)
  • Active interest in Audit
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in A&E, GP or O&G
  • Previous audit experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Sound basic clinical skills
  • Medical and Surgical skills at a foundation level
  • Competent in management of medical emergencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to escalate effectively to senior staff
