We have an exciting opportunity within the General Surgery and Bariatric team at Whittington Health NHS Trust. Applications are invited for a 10 PA Locum Consultant Bariatric Surgeon to join the team on a fixed term basis for an initial 12 months.
The service seeks a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic colleague, committed to the highest standards of practice, evidence-based medicine and quality assurance. Whittington Health is a key provider of general surgery services in North Central London (NCL) and is a leading partner in the NCL General Surgery network. The successful candidate will be central to the further development of the General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery services at Whittington Health.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will be a general surgeon with a major subspecialty interest in bariatric surgery. The bariatric unit perform the full complement of laparoscopic bariatric procedures as well as advanced laparoscopy of benign upper gastrointestinal disorders. We also perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.

Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- FRCS or equivalent On or within six months of being on the specialist register
- On or within six months of being on the specialist register
Desirable criteria
- Research degree, ie: PhD/MD/MS
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Fully up to date in all aspects of General Surgery and bariatric surgery
- Clinical Expertise in bariatric surgery
Desirable criteria
- Member of speciality association
- Member of BOMMS
- Attendance at courses on general surgery, including upper GI
Training
Essential criteria
- Training in bariatric and general surgery at Senior Registrar, SpR or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Post CCT Fellowship
- Consultant level experience
Management/Audit:
Essential criteria
- Interest in audit
Desirable criteria
- Management course/ certification.
- Experience and interest in improving patient experience.
Research/Publications

- Publications and papers
