The Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Trust and are seeking to recruit an experienced Network Engineering and Security Manager on a Two-Year Fixed Term Contract.

The Network Engineering & Security Manager is a key member of the Infrastructure & Unified Communications team responsible for the technical operation, development, and security of the organization's network infrastructure. This role ensures the Network team functions are delivered in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), maintaining high levels of system availability and customer satisfaction. 

The role also requires flexible working by the organisation, including early start times and late finishes as required, to maintain appropriate coverage from 8am until 5pm.

The Network Engineering & Security Manager will lead a team of technical staff, manage budgets, oversee vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with national policies and regulations.

The key purpose of this role is to:

They integrate and manage various communication platforms, provide user support and training, and handle vendor relationships. Strategically, they develop technology plans, manage budgets, enforce policies, and plan for disaster recovery. Their primary goal is to ensure the network and communication systems operate effectively, securely, and efficiently to support the organization's needs.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters level education, equivalent professional qualifications
  • Professional technical certification (e.g. Cisco, Extreme Networks, Checkpoint, etc), or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Further specialist professional management or leadership certification  A/I/C
  • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner Certification, or equivalent experience
  • Cybersecurity Certification (CISSP, SSCP, OSCP) or equivalent experience.
  • Prince 2, PMP, Project Management Certification, or equivalent experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In-depth experience in a role working at a senior level with Network and Telecoms systems.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of developing requirements into system configuration and service output
  • Expert in ‘off the shelf’ Enterprise Applications technologies at an enterprise level
  • Proven expertise and experience in the delivery of business requirements capture and analysis developing structured technical specifications
  • Deep market knowledge of IT and Healthcare technologies and use within an acute setting
  • Substantial experience in software design, configuration and development that involves complex computer systems
  • Expert in technology applications and the use of analytics for availability, capacity and improvement
  • Demonstrable experience of operating in a medium to large size ‘off the shelf’ application and technology environment
  • Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to handle multiple stakeholders, as well as a wide range of tasks
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced knowledge of development and testing including system planning and risk analysis
  • ITIL Experience
