Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Radiographer to join our CT and Interventional Radiology Team at Charing Cross Hospital.
Your rotation will be a 50/50 split between CT and IR, covering both specialties 24/7 (within your contracted hours). Our busy department houses 2 bi-plane interventional rooms (Philips Allura and Azurion) and 2 CT scanners (Siemens 28 slice Definition AS and 128 slice Somatom X.Cite).
You will form part of a dedicated IR/CT team providing excellent patient care and radiographic expertise in neurological and general interventional and CT procedures. This includes cerebral thrombectomy (24 hour service), neuro embolisations, TACE and R/MFA.
This specialised role will offer the opportunity to build and extend on your clinical expertise and also develop your management, training and leadership skills.
You will work closely with radiologists, nurses and other multi-disciplinary teams within the Trust. We recognise that education and training is fundamental and support role extension and further learning.
Main duties of the job
- Perform CT & IR procedures (both neuro and general) according to Trust, Departmental and statutory regulations.
- Provide a high standard of patient care within the specialised area of CT & IR.
- To communicate effectively in order to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- To supervise rotational staff and students within the CT & IR department.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR (D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent.
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate study
Experience
Essential criteria
- NHS experience
- Up to date knowledge of neuro and general CT & IR imaging techniques
- Previous CT &/or IR Experience
- Awareness of clinical governance issue in relation to patient care
Desirable criteria
- Significant post-graduation experience.
- Experience of training staff and students
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
- Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
