Job overview
This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who are enthusiastic, motivated and interested in this area of maternity care and wish to enhance their skills and knowledge to provide quality care to women and their families both in theatre and recovery.
Our aim is to provide comprehensive care to women by a team of skilled nurses in post anaesthetic care and theatre scrubbing. This will present you with versatile experience and job satisfaction. The main focus will initially be on theatre scrub and then will develop into assisting in the recovery area.
You will be part of the delivery suite team and be involved in the care of the mother and baby supported and directed by the midwifery team.
Main duties of the job
- To provide care to patients in the operating theatre and maternity recovery area
- Assesses care needs and develops implements and evaluates programmes of care
- Prepares and assembles theatre equipment and instruments
- Responsible for maintaining asepsis intraoperative
- Ensures safety of the theatre and recovery environment including stock levels and storage of equipment
- Provides support to students/learners within the unit
- Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team members in maintaining policies and standards of patient care related to perioperative and postoperative management

- Registered nurse > 1year
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Basic Life Support
Desirable criteria
- Theatre course
- Post anaesthetic course or experience
Experience

- Previous ward experience
- Theatre experience
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical role in maternity recovery
Desirable criteria
- Experience in recovery/HDU
- Familiar with PCA/epidurals for pain relief
