Job overview

The Imperial pharmacy department has recently revised its leadership team structure to reflect our ambitious and wide ranging medicines optimisation strategy. We are excited to announce a new 8c Associate Chief Pharmacist position within our leadership group, with responsibility for quality and safety, and a number of our specialist pharmacy teams. The role will be extremely rewarding and requires an individual who is experienced in working at a strategic level with a range of stakeholders. The post holder will actively contribute to an already dynamic team to lead on the quality and safety agenda for the pharmacy directorate, as well as supporting medicines governance across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead, manage, maintain, plan and co-ordinate all areas of responsibility (Pharmacy Clinical Services, medicines advisory and governance (MAGS) teams) at Imperial in line with Trust Priorities and Pharmacy strategic objectives.  
  • To lead on areas related to medicines governance at the Trust, directly supporting the Chief Pharmacist in the assurance of high quality and safe use of medicines at the Trust
  • To ensure delivery of high quality services which are patient focussed and consistent across the Trust sites.
  • To ensure services are provided in accordance with current regulations, best practice and legal requirements.
  • To set standards for services, monitor performance, and ensure that services are provided efficiently and in accordance with the needs of users.
  • To develop, train, motivate and encourage staff working within the team and the department as a whole. 
  • To support the Pharmacy Leadership team in the development, maintenance and implementation of the annual business plans and service strategies for the department.

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • GPhC registered Pharmacist
  • Mandatory GPHC Professional CPD
  • Post Graduate management / leadership qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • RPS member

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of staff management and management experience within clinical/clinical support services
  • Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner-This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary staff in effective learning from incidents and errors
Desirable criteria
  • Published research
  • Previous experience of chairing multidisciplinary meetings

  • Good ability to organise and prioritise work
  • Good clinical practice knowledge
  • Ability to think strategically and plan future service developments
