Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual, who can work within a small friendly team within our Planned Care Services. We are looking for someone who is extremely passionate about Planned Care and is willing to work towards a changing service.
We run numerous consultant, therapies, nursing and phlebotomy clinics in our dedicated children's outpatient department. A variety of children's clinics run from both paediatricians and other specialties including clinics held by the Tertiary Centre's.

Main duties of the job
To provide high quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group.
To deliver compassionate person-centred care, and treat patients, service users, their families and their carers with consideration, dignity and the respect you would want for yourself or your family.
To provide relevant forms of care with minimal supervision and participate in the supervision and teaching and assessment of unregistered or junior staff and students.
The post holder must be organised, responsive and flexible in coordinating and leading outpatient clinics and supporting specialist Nursing teams.
The post available is at the Paediatric Outpatient Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital and the post holder would be expected to work across all Paediatric areas when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ensure all clinical practice in based on evidence or peer reviewed “best practice” in line with local and national guidelines. Bring to the attention of senior staff any new evidence or standards they become aware of.
Provide informal support and education to patients/carers and all professional disciplines as required

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- RSCN/RN Child
- Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
- Practice/assessor training
- Evidence of recent appropriate clinical practice
- HDU module or equivalent
- Willingness to work towards further qualifications
- Knowledge of quality issues and clinical governance
- Sound Knowledge of Safeguarding children
Desirable criteria
- PILS
- EPLS
- Experience working within a clinical and/or Outpatient environment
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of current policies relating to best practice within outpatients
- Ability to work under pressure to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Experience of successful change management

- Significant experience post qualification
- Experience of managing a caseload
