This post is 30 hours per week, permanent contract, to work in our Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities in the Reading locality.
We are looking for a Community Learning Disability Physiotherapist who will join our multi-disciplinary team and help to make a difference to the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of people with many diverse and complex needs. This is a great opportunity to work in the community providing you with a unique opportunity to develop and learn within the learning disability service.
You may be a newly qualified physiotherapist looking for a developmental role within our learning disabilities service, or a physiotherapist with minimum 3 years of experience and keen to work within our specialist service working with people with a learning disability. You will be expected to do some of your visits remotely & face-to-face, working in a multi-disciplinary team approach, including working with private care providers and families. The ability to educate and influence is therefore essential.

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload autonomously.

To work within the Community Learning disability multi-disciplinary team based in Reading but may be required to cover Berkshire wide as per requirements.

To provide a high standard of quality physiotherapy service to people with learning disabilities in community settings.

To provide specialist advice and therapeutic interventions to parents and carers of people with a learning disability.

Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy
- Member of the HCPC
- Member of the CSP
Desirable criteria
- Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience
- Relevant validated clinical courses accredited as equivalent to masters level
Continuous Professional Development
Essential criteria
- Evidence of Statutory and Mandatory Courses
- Understanding of multidisciplinary working
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of CPD in a portfolio including attendance at recent post-graduate courses relevant to the clinical field/reflective practice in relevant clinical field
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience/placement within NHS or social service
Desirable criteria
- Previous Physiotherapy experience within learning disabilities
- Supervision of juniors/assistants/students
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Experience of service development
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Key skills and knowledge of Physiotherapy interventions
