Trust Grade FY3 equivalent positions within Haematology at Newham University Hospital
6 Month Fixed Term Contract with possibility to extend
Barts Health NHS Trust is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to take up Trust Grade Fy2/FY3 equivalent position within Haematology at Newham University Hospital. These posts would be ideally suited to a person keen to pursue a career in Haematology and who is looking for some wide ranging clinical and laboratory experience before applying for an IMT post or for a candidate who on completion of IMT wishes to gain experience in haematology ahead of applying for specialist training.
The post holders will be based at Newham university Hospital and provide elective and ambulatory care for patients with a variety of hematological conditions. They will also participate in a number of outpatient clinics and will be encouraged to develop specialist interests if desired and if compatible with service needs.

- Daily ward rounds
- Prescribing
- Discharge summaries
- Reviewing patients on Medical ambulatory care ward
- Answering bleeps
- Ordering and reviewing bloods and radiology requests for inpatients
- Phlebotomy
- Updating inpatient handover list
- Attend MDTs
- Attending medical handovers
- Assisting in bone marrow procedures and training to complete independently
- Attending outpatient clinics and completing clinic letters
- Audit and Quality improvement
- Exposure to examining blood films and bone marrows under supervision

- MBBS or equivalent

- MRCP Part 1 or MRCPCH Part 1 A and B
- Full MRCP (UK)
- Intercalated BSc or equivalent
- Higher degree MSc, PhD, MD
Experience

- Competence at core-completion level in the management of medical emergencies, in-patients and outpatients
- Evidence that present achievement and performance is commensurate with totality of training.

- Demonstrates awareness of the basics of managing patients with haematological disease
- Evidence of skills in the management of acute medical emergencies (eg ALERT, IMPACT certification)
- Evidence of skills in the management of patients not requiring hospital admission
- Evidence of ST3-level procedural skills relevant to medical patients (clinical independence in central venous cannulation, chest drain insertion, joint aspiration, DC cardioversion, abdominal paracentesis.)
- Evidence of experience in a range of acute medical specialties, with experience of managing patients on unselected medical take, during core training or equivalent.
