Job overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pre-Operative Assessment Staff Nurse to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our patients are prepared for their surgical procedures, providing thorough assessments, education, and support. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments for elective surgery patients, including health history, physical assessments, and risk evaluation. Identify and address any issues that may impact the safety of surgical procedures, liaising with surgical, anaesthesia, and other teams as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about the surgical process, potential risks, and post-operative care.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation and pre-operative requirements are complete and accurate.
  • Provide reassurance and emotional support to patients and families, helping them feel informed and comfortable
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Follow organizational policies and best practices to maintain patient safety and quality standards.

  • Previous Pre Assessment Clinic experience
  • Surgical Day surgery experience
