Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and positive individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. As a Ward Administrator for our Intensive Care Unit, you will be the first point of contact for queries and play an essential role in supporting members of the multidisciplinary team. 

You will be responsible for providing a warm, dedicated, helpful and friendly welcome to all relatives and visitors to our department. You will have excellent organisation skills and the ability to work at pace, will ideally have previous experience in working in a patient facing role, along with the capacity to provide a great service in a sensitive setting. People skills are an absolute must, along with the ability to work in a highly demanding yet rewarding environment.

The role is key in day-to-day coordination of administrative tasks as part of a 7-day service and is a part time substantive position. The hours for this post are 26.25 per week and will need to cover our unit visiting times of 11am – 7pm. This role will be based at St Mary’s Hospital although cross-site cover may be required as per the service needs.

Main duties of the job

Provide a comprehensive and quality administration service to the designated department and manage and prioritise their workload liaising closely with the other administration staff and management in the Department. Provide administrative support to the wider multidisciplinary team, including Consultants.
