Trosolwg o'r swydd

Are you passionate about cardiology?
Do you want to make a difference to your community?
Are you motivated and have the drive to be a band 6 Sister within Cardiology?
Do you want to learn new skills?

Then we are looking for You!!!!!!

The CCU team prides itself on providing excellent, well-rounded care in acute, interventional and diagnostic cardiology with nurses rotating in Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and Cardiac Diagnostics. This is a unique opportunity for learning and training in all these specialised areas of Cardiology since most of the other Trusts have dedicated staff for each area.
CCU has 6 monitored beds catering to high dependency patients who have acute cardiac conditions such as heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms, valve issues and heart failure. Nurses here are trained to develop a strong eye for clinical deterioration, identify ECG abnormalities and perform special procedures such as CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) and ultrafiltration. Despite having a quick patient turnover, nurses are able to deliver patient-centred in a diverse range of cardiac illnesses.

On the other hand, the Cathlab and Cardiac Diagnostics run weekday lists of stress echocardiograms, nuclear MPS, diagnostic coronary angiograms, left and right heart catheterisation, electrophysiology studies with ablation, and implantation of simple and complex cardiac devices. Here, nurses get to scrub and circulate for the procedures and practice their cannulation and venepuncture skills. They also hone their non-technical skills such as communication, teamwork and time management, which are all important in getting all the procedures done in a safe and timely manner.
Since staff joining the team will be growing in all these different areas, they are well-supported with an experienced sister/charge nurse every shift who are always keen to help. They will also have dedicated experienced mentors, guiding them in a carefully planned personalised learning and development pathway.  The managers also organise regular in-house study days and proactively encourage professional development through the cardiac care pathway at the University of Brighton where you can earn a degree in Acute Clinical Practice. Moreover, cardiology nurses enjoy a closer relationship with the multidisciplinary team as they regularly work in proximity to attend to patients’ complex needs. Finally, the team has ties with Frimley Park, St. George’s, Royal Brompton and Barts Hospitals in the event that a patient needs a tertiary level of care.
