An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experience specialist nurse to join our Team as a junior sister. We are seeking a highly motivated, Band 6 Cardiac rehabilitation Nurse to work within our Current team based at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
As an expanding and dynamic team, we are looking for people who have a natural desire to drive improvement initiatives and sustain the excellent standards of our cardiac services. Currently we have an established Cardiac Rehabilitation programme with strong links to the community. The Cardiology Service at Milton Keynes University NHS Trust provides an excellent customer service which covers Coronary Care, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, and the Cardiac Day Case Unit.

Main duties of the job
- Developing Cardiac Rehabilitation Team
- Supporting patients and relatives through recovery process.
- Working as part of multi-disciplinary team to deliver high standard of care.
- Involvement in research projects
- Audit
- Managing case load reviewing ward referrals as well as clinics.
We are looking for a dynamic positive thinking Specialist Nurse who will be a team player. You will have the confidence to make decisions, and the drive to support ongoing development of the service.
Highly motivated person with experience of managing people as well as a strong clinical knowledge and background in coronary care.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the recovery of patients following a cardiac event to return to as full a life as possible

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Be responsible for the delivery and the development of high-quality cardiac rehabilitation programmes, in phases 1-3 of cardiac rehabilitation.
- Work in collaboration with the cardiac rehabilitation team, primary and secondary health care colleagues to provide optimum management of patients, especially those with complex cardiovascular and heart failure disease presentations.
- To be responsible for the monitoring of patient care & safety throughout the duration of the exercise sessions and review patient’s personal progress at the start, interim and end of exercise programme following plan initiated by exercise specialist.
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work and patients.

Experience

- Recent acute/cardiac nursing knowledge and experience in an acute hospital environment.
- Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices.
- Undertake nursing assessment and evaluation to enable development of appropriate plans of care based on the needs of the individual.
- Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients.
- Ensure safe administration of drugs in accordance with NMC policies.
- Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with NMC guidelines.
- Undertake regular mandatory training.
Desirable criteria
- Previous cardiac rehabilitation experience.
- Understanding heart failure and rehabilitation for this patient group.
