Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will initially be assigned to the Specialist Biochemistry area. You may be assigned to other parts of the Biochemistry laboratory as per service need.
The Specialist Biochemistry section performs a range of automated, semi-automated and manual assays. Technologies used include electrophoresis, ELISA and Automated Immunoassay
You will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of professional expertise and quality, whilst delivering a high-quality, cost-effective service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Two posts are available, both fixed-term.
Role one: Full time 37.5 hours per week, fixed term for 9 months,
Role two: Part time 18 hours per week, fixed term for 12 months.
You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, with some weekend and bank holiday working.

You will need to:
be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist
have significant post registration experience.
have experience in manual analytical techniques
be an excellent communicator

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- HCPC approved Biomedical Science degree (BSc) or other HCPC approved degree/top ups
- HCPC registered
- Evidence of current CPD activities
- Significant previous experience in a medical laboratory
- IBMS specialist portfolio (in relevant discipline) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- IT competency (hospital IT systems, Outlook, Microsoft)
- Experience in a large acute hospital laboratory
