Main duties of the job
The UEL clinical support specialist team are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to help support theatres within University Hospital Southampton by leading change/improvement projects offering clinical advice on product substitutions and leading/assisting tenders. The role will also involve liaising with third-party suppliers such as Sterile Services and Wessex Procurement Limited.
The UEL Clinical support specialist will join the team of UEL clinical support specialists. We are a team that is designed to offer a managed service to UEL areas. This includes managing theatre, ICU, Endoscopy & IR equipment, instruments, consumables and the building.

The standard shift pattern is 0800 - 1600 Monday-Friday

Physical requirements of the post
Essential criteria
- Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (if necessary with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act).
Qualifications / training required
Essential criteria
- Registered healthcare professional – registered nurse or registered operating department practitioner
- Degree level education or equivalent
- Current clinical experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
- Experience of working in operating theatre or other invasive procedure-type environment (ie cath labs, interventional radiology, endoscopy etc.) in either NHS or private sector.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post qualifying education (ie leadership and management of change, mentorship, governance in practice university modules) and ability to link theory to professional practice
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Previous or relevant experience necessary
