Job overview

As part of the Berkshire West Community Respiratory Service, you will provide high quality, evidence-based care for patients undertaking Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The role includesassessing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating exercise programmes according to the needs of the referred individualsThey will be based in the community (at leisure centres/community centres or at the client’s home) as a lone worker and with other members of the multidisciplinary team.  

As a team player, you will be working within the Cardiac and Respiratory Specialist Services (CARSS) including the Respiratory Services (and Pulmonary Rehabilitation) Heart Function Service and Cardiac Rehabilitation, all based at Coley Clinic. Main duties of the job

  • Work as part of an integrated team providing community based Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. 

  • Work as part of the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation team to deliver the rehab programmes including assessment of patients and supervision of group exercise classes. 

  • To provide Home Exercise Programmes for those who are unable to attend the community based programme

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 Personal trainer
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 GP referral exercise instructor
  • BACPR level 4 specialist exercise instructor
  • Degree in Sport and Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology, registered as a British Association of Sport and Exercise (BASES Certified Practitione
  • ECDL
  • Basic Computer skills

Continuous Professional Development

  • Evidence of Statutory and Mandatory Courses

Previous Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Working with patient suffering with from a cardiac or respiratory condition
  • Experience with older people medical conditions
