Applications are invited for enthusiastic Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Biomedical Scientists with an MSc in Biomedical Science to work in a busy Blood Transfusion Laboratory in Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. Applicants must have a Minimum of 5 years post registration experience in Blood Transfusion including at least 3 years at Band 6 or higher. It is an essential requirement that they have either completed:

 

A Specialist IBMS Portfolio in Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice

or

Have successfully completed its predecessor, the CPSM/HPC logbook and oral examination

or

Have completed IBMS Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science

or

BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice

 

We expect the post holder to have an understanding or experience in the following processes: UKAS assessments, training, writing policies and reports, audits, validation of equipment and new IT systems, leading a team; ability to multitask.

 

The post holder will be involved in the delivery of the regional Blood Production and Tracking (BPAT) IT solution. They will also be responsible for ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the Blood Bank, utilising the resources available to implement senior management decisions relating to department and trust policy.

 

The successful candidate may be required to participate in a 24-hour service, which will include extended working day, overnight, weekend and public holidays as part of the conditioned 37.5 hours per week.
