Job overview
In the Bay Network, an exciting career opportunity has arisen within the Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce for a highly specialist dietitian to deliver quality evidence based practice into the mental health inpatient wards.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward thinking individual, who has the desire to build upon their transferable clinical and leadership skills. Whilst working to a high standard of evidenced based professional patient-centred care, you will be supported to progress and to achieve your potential as both a leader and a clinician amongst our growing AHP community.
Across the Bay Network, there are four acute mental health inpatient wards spanning across both adults and older adults: The Orchard, Lancaster; Kentmere, Kendal, Dova, Dane Garth in Barrow-in-Furness. Ramsey, Dane Garth based on Furness General Hospital site in Barrow-in-Furness.
You will work as an autonomous advanced practitioner, and provide a high standard of assessment, diagnosis, treatment and highly specialist expert advice to patients and carers. You will develop and promote a holistic, supportive and patient centred service. Your role will involve the assessment and implementation of care plans for patients and will assist in the training of health care professionals and carers and maintenance of IT systems that support patient care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience working with complex mental health conditions, within a specialist Mental Health inpatient unit, focusing upon nutrition support, weight management, diabetes and gastroenterology. You will be expected to have a strong commitment to ongoing professional and personal development.
The positive developments within the AHPs workforce are driving forwards a culture of learning and continuing professional development opportunities. This is inclusive of utilising innovative technology to facilitate our more geographically isolated patients within the Bay Network. The base of the location can be discussed further with interested candidates, with potential for a hybrid model of clinical care provision

Essential criteria
- Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent leading to Health Professions Council (HCPC) Registration as a Dietitian Teaching qualification or equivalent/demonstration of teaching/supervision experience
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Compliance with regulatory bodies and codes of professional conduct
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of current key NHS developments and policies and implications for service delivery
- Evidence of extensive professional clinical Knowledge, skill and experience
