We are looking to recruit skilled and highly motivated individuals into the role of Mental Health Support worker. These are exciting and dynamic roles within the CRISS (Crisis Resolution Intensive Support Service) which is a dynamic and flexible service which offers 24/7 crisis assessments and home-based treatment for working age adults across the city. The service is currently under a period of development
to bring together both sides of the service in localities across the city and in line with Core Fidelity standards.

We are seeking Mental Health Support Workers who have experience of working in acute mental health care and motivated to support our service users to experience improved mental health within the community. The ideal applicants will have experience in mental health, facilitating and meeting the various individual physical, mental and holistic needs of service users whilst under direction and supervision of senior colleagues.


You will work within a MDT led team which aims to reduce admissions to hospital and facilitate early discharge through home based treatment. You will be expected to work with service users and carers in the community to provide care to service users with acute mental health needs. It is essential that applicants hold a full driver’s license and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.

We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will additionally work closely with other community and inpatient mental health services. As a Mental Health Support worker you will undertake a broad range of care delivery and support activities and duties, and provide a high standard of care for service users within a community setting. This will include delivering care in line with agreed care plans, at times under the supervision of a registered practitioner. There will be opportunity to work independently with service users, you will receive regular supervision to support you in this role. Applicants should have some experience of working with a range of people with complex mental health needs and the ability to respond well in a crisis situations, and understand the need to record/report such situations accurately to senior staff within the team. Additionally, you should have an understanding of how a mental illness can impact an individual’s wellbeing and day to day functioning. In this role you will be offered regular management and clinical supervision sessions and you will be supported in your professional development to reach your potential in this exciting role. This is a great time to begin working in the CRISS service as we develop new ways of working and enhance our acute community care provision. This role will be challenging, varied and with opportunity to develop your skills. A positive attitude, compassion, resilience and excellent communication skills are vital to this role.
