The Trust operates and relies on everyone treating each other with dignity and respect, to receive equitable and fair treatment in the implementation of Policies, Procedures and in its Practices, to foster positive work relationships, and finally to act with integrity as a professional within ESNEFT as well as a representative of the NHS as a whole.  The EDI Agenda reflects the Trust values such as Optimistic, Appreciative and Kind. In line with the NHS Long Term Plan, People Plan, People Promise and a Model Employer intrinsic in the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Agenda, we consistently strive to improve, to take the learning into Action for a better ESNEFT.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge then we are keen to hear from you.

Job overview

We are inviting applicants to apply for the Clinical Fellow in Urology at Ipswich Hospital.

The post-holder’s duties will be primarily at Ipswich Hospital but their presence may from time to time be required in other parts of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

All postholders will provide cover as general urologists for elective and emergency work. In addition to elective work, each Fellow will participate in a 1 in 8 week on call rota (registrar level) with prospective cover.

Responsibilities will also include the supervision of junior staff, involvement in a regular teaching programme, participating in the weekly urology meetings (MDT/stone committee) and monthly departmental audit meetings.

The postholder’s primary focus will be to develop subspecialist expertise in the management of stone disease. The fellow will become proficient in obtaining percutaneous access for PCNL as well as developing the skills necessary for removal of the stone. Flexible ureteroscopy and laser of stones will be routine. Open and laparoscopic renal surgical training will be offered to those wanting to develop this skill, although these cases would be shared with the Urological Cancer Fellow. The ability to learn to perform ESWL will also be offered.

Working for our organisation

We are building for better care with an exciting capital development programme across our sites – totalling £100million over the next five years.

We are building a new elective orthopaedic centre for ESNEFT at Colchester Hospital. It will be one of the biggest centres in the country and will ensure we can retain complex and low volume cases locally for the people we serve.

We are also now building a £7million specialist interventional radiology and cardiac angiography unit at Colchester.

At Ipswich we are investing £35million in a new Emergency Department and co-located Urgent Treatment Centre, with additional diagnostic imaging kit (MRI and CT).
