To comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers. To provide a range of healthcare and non-nursing duties, ensuring an efficient and effective service to the ward/department at all times
Main duties of the job
To provide nursing care under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse and assist with administration and non-nursing duties at the discretion of the Ward Sister.
To help guide & develop band 2 HCA’s whilst supporting the band 7 Line manager, band 6 Junior Sisters/Charge Nurse and Band 5 Staff Nurses.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Part Time: 18 hours per week.
Day Shifts
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Health Care Assistant/Heightened Surveillance Nurse (combined role) to join Milford and Haslemere Hospital Teams. Milford Hospital is a 30 bed acute frailty unit; it has two wards and specialises in orthopedic geriatric patients recovering post-surgery and care of patients with frailty. Haslemere is a 16 bed rehabilitation unit that aids patients with complex discharge requirements and rehabilitation needs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and hardworking person to join our friendly working environment.
Supported by the health care assistants and nurses, you will be responsible for the delivery of care to an individual or a small group of patients, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team. A passion to provide social engagement to patient would be highly beneficial.
As part of the role, you will be required to move between the Milford and Haslemere hospital sites in order to support patients where there is a greater need each shift. Due to the nature if this role, a valid current driving license is essential for applicants.
You will need to be a good communicator with a caring and compassionate nature. Excellent teamwork skills and an enthusiasm to learn are essential.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Completed Co-Mentor (HCA’s) or equivalent
- Completed Care Certificate Course
- Basic Wound Care Skills
- Team Leader Module or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent work experience. NVQ Level 3 or willing to work towards functional skills (Maths and English)
Knowledge and Experience
Desirable criteria
- Example - Must have an understanding surrounding current healthcare policy / national guidance / CQC
- Previous experience in patient contact position within elderly care/frailty/dementia care
