Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Biomedical Support Worker to join a busy Microbiology laboratory at one of the South coast's leading tertiary hospitals. We're looking for someone who is able to communicate well with staff in the department and service users Is able to plan and use their own time economically and effectively. Has a high degree of motivation and enthusiasm. Has a working knowledge of laboratory areas. Is able to work day, weekends and bank holidays.

Work throughout all of sections of the department on a rotational basis. Work primarily day shifts and weekend and bank holidays. Be responsible for the reception/data entry and processing of clinical specimens, these may include a range of swabs, body fluids, and blood samples Be involved in setting up a range of routine automated and manual laboratory tests Assist with the quality management of the laboratory (for example quality control procedures and audit as required)

Qualifications / training required
Essential criteria
- 5 GCSEs at A-C level or equivalent.
- NVQ level 3 education or equivalent level of experience.
Previous or relevant experience necessary
