About the role:
The School of Dentistry are seeking to appoint a Dental Therapist to join the clinical supervisory team at Carlisle Dental Education Centre. The post holder will work alongside other dental colleagues to provide clinical supervision for undergraduate students undertaking BDS and BSc Dental Therapy programmes. The teaching within the two programmes is highly integrated and the School operates primarily within a primary care framework. In addition to clinical supervision, the role will include engaging in wider teaching and assessment of undergraduate students and contributing to course administration in Preston campus or using online platforms. The University operates a blended working environment for all academic staff.
About you:
The successful candidate will have experience of working as a Dental Therapist in a Primary Care setting; along with experience in clinical training and supervision of the dental team. They will hold a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy, or a Degree in Oral Sciences or Dental Hygiene and Therapy, and be registered with the GDC as a Dental Therapist. Holders of the diploma, must be willing to undertake degree studies on appointment, which will be funded by the School of Dentistry.
An active networker, with excellent clinical and communication skills, you will have the ability to work well within a team and will be IT literate in the use of standard Microsoft packages. The work requires frequent travel to the Preston campus and hence you must have the ability to travel independently between sites.
Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. The role is advertised as a full-time role; however, part time roles and job shares will be considered.
