Are you an experienced Senior Nurse looking for your next leadership role? 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly specialised, autonomous practitioner and influential leader to join our organisation as the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) Clinical Lead.  

As the UTC Clinical Lead you will manage the nursing team within the UTC and play a full role in the overall UTC management team.  You will be a strong visible clinical leader  enhancing the nurses’ skills, knowledge, and work in partnership within a multi-disciplinary team.

You will contribute to meeting the identified key performance indicators within the timeframes identified.  You will assist the General Manager,  Service manager, UTC Lead GP and the UTC management team in the planning, developing and delivery of the UTC service and will initiate and implement change effectively in response to clinical or organisational demands.

This role will be based across our UTC's in Colchester, Clacton and Harwich.  

Please note interviews will be taking placed week commencing 10th March 2025. 

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide leadership for staff working in the Clinical Specialty.
  • You will provide professional and managerial leadership for all nursing and support roles and be accountable for the safe, efficient delivery of patient care in line with current research/evidence, ensuring a framework of safe, effective practice.
  • Working closely with Ward Sister will, as a key member of the Clinical Specialty Senior Team, be responsible and accountable for facilitating the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trust and NHS commissioning requirements through clinical service delivery.
  • You will undertake assessment and treatment of patients in the UTC who may present with complex and/or chronic illnesses and/or injury; to determine a clinical diagnosis, treatment and appropriate discharge as indicated as well as maintaining patient records.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional nursing qualification
  • Evidence of academic pathway equivalent to Degree in Nursing or Health Related study
  • Masters Degree in relation to health management or equivalent experience
  • Independent Nurse prescribing
Desirable criteria
  • Masters Degree or working toward/unit/departments Masters Degree level education
  • Management Leadership Qualification, which has been tested in a management post

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience at senior nurse level at a Band 8a or above
  • Current health policy and its impact on the management and development of acute health services
  • Experience in general practice/Walk in centre/Urgent treatment centres
  • Experience of effective budgetary management
  • Experience of ability to manage and lead nursing team
  • Experience of service redesign and development
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of effective working relationships both inside and outside the organisation
  • Leadership Facilitator
  • Experience of leading strategic/cross Trust changes
  • Experience in preparing business cases

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise & negotiate
  • Diagnosis and management of minor injuries including fractures, burns, lacerations, minor eye injuries, soft tissue injuries
  • Diagnosis and management of minor illnesses giving evidence based advice and management and where required appropriate prescribing
  • Have an ability to be able to analyse, interpret and act upon complex data
  • IT literate
