Ophthalmic Assistant

The Ophthalmic Imaging department at Southampton Eye Unit are recruiting for an Assistant Imaging Technician. Ophthalmic Imagers are an integral part of the Eye Unit Team and provide imaging of all aspects of the eyes to help with the diagnosis and monitoring of eye conditions.

You will be joining a friendly team of over 25 imagers and following training, get to use state of the art, world leading imaging equipment. Southampton Eye Unit is a very busy regional centre of excellence, so some degree of stamina will be needed.
The service runs from Monday to Saturday with an 8am-6pm shift pattern.

Current or previous experience working within Ophthalmology
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
Experience in Humphrey Visual Fields measurements
Experience of Ophthalmic imaging techniques (Optical coherence Tomography /Retinal Photography)
Previous healthcare working experience
Flexible work approach (to include evenings & weekend working)
Working with people
Ability to cope with repetitive workloads whilst maintaining accuracy at all times.
Excellent visual acuity and colour vision due to long periods of time working in darkened rooms
