Job overview

The advertised post is for a substantive consultant in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at Barts Health NHS Trust which will be one of -- new substantive radiology posts to support the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) for Northeast London which is a CDC exemplar supporting Research, Education and Training for the radiographic Team.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of 19 neuroradiologists to help develop the service and to support the active training programme. The post will be based at both The Royal London Hospital and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital with one day a week from Mile end Hospital.

The successful applicant should have completed subspecialist training in diagnostic neuroradiology. The successful candidate will join the team of 19 neuroradiologists (including 5 neuro interventional radiologists and 6 head and neck radiologists) currently providing a comprehensive neuroimaging service to the Trust.  There is a regional neurosciences Unit, regional head & neck Unit, level 1 Trauma Unit and Hyperacute Stroke Unit all located at the RLH site and Oncology /Cyberknife radiosurgery is  located at Barts.

The successful applicant should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and be within 6 months of their CCT. They should have a specialist interest in Diagnostic Neuroradiology.

 

Main duties of the job

Duties of the post

  • To support, develop and enhance the Neuroimaging and stroke services at Barts Health NHS Trust, supporting the Neurosciences Directorates.
  • To contribute to the high-quality Consultant-led diagnostic Neuroradiology imaging service at Barts and The Royal London Hospitals.  The annual consultant reporting for the combined Neuroradiology and Head &Neck Radiology service is currently around 13,000 CT and 8000 MRs.
  •    To support other imaging developments within the Trust.
  •  To participate in the 1 in 9 neuroradiology on-call rota.
  •   To provide evidence-based care for all patients
  •  To adhere at all times to the appropriate clinical and quality standard.
  • To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with colleagues, general practitioners’ community services, and all healthcare agencies.
  •  To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work.
  •  To participate fully in the management of the Departments and to liaise closely with the respective clinical and academic group director and General Manager

Higher Qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • CCT (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP/MRCS

Knowledge Clinical expertise in Specialty /Subspecialty:

  • Extensive experience in diagnostic Neuroradiology
  • Completion of higher specialist training in neuroradiology.
