We are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our paediatric Spinal team as a band 7 clinical nurse specialist. We are the centre for paediatric spinal services for children across the Wessex Region including the Channel Isles. 

This role will give you the ability to work autonomously as well as being a core member of the multidisciplinary team providing clinical care to patients; education to professionals, parents and carers; and will give you the opportunity to be involved in service provision and development for the future.

Responsibilities: 
You will holistically assess and identify complex health and psychosocial needs of individual patients, and plan programmes of care to meet these needs, in partnership with patients/carers and colleagues.  
You will Manage a patient caseload, to agreed referral/discharge criteria, and act as ‘key worker’. Effectively working in partnership with other professionals and referring patients to other practitioners as required.    
You will provide appropriate information and education to patients and their families to promote health and encourage self-care and participation in the planned programme of treatment and care.  A large part of the role requires you to provide education to the families and carers of patients and to coordinate the discharge planning required to allow for patients to return and thrive in community settings. 
Be involved in planning and implementing standards of care, practice guidelines and where appropriate Integrated Care Pathways, and to continually evaluate the quality of patient care. 
Work in collaboration with health and social care colleagues within the Trust and external primary and acute care providers. Challenge professional and organisational boundaries in the interest of patients and clients and to improve health outcomes.  
  
Experience/Skills: 
Clinical experience working as a band 6 or equivalent with children and young people within a relevant speciality. 
Ability to work flexibly and ability to travel when required. 
Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
  • Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master’s Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
  • Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
  • Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
  • Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
  • Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
  • Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
  • Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
  • Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
  • Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice
