Job overview
Main duties of the job
You will be a Band 5 RMN working within a multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of clinical duties, including, but not limited to ECT (Electro Convulsive Therapy), administering depot medication at depot clinic, taking bloods at clozaril clinics, monitoring physical health of patients who attend aforementioned clinics and signposting to various other services in the voluntary sector.
As a Band 5 RMN within the team you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 Nurse; you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.
You will be required to offer clinical and managerial leadership to Health Care Assistants (HCA’s),Band 3 or 4, as part of your role within the team. You may be required to take on tasks that require you to operate electronic staffing record systems such as PDR/supervision.
You may be required to move clinical areas at either short notice or no notice in order to meet the changing needs of the service.
You may be asked to participate in the process of internal rotation as and when required.
You will be expected to be compliant with all mandatory training

Essential criteria
- RMN qualification
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- On-going registration with the NMC. Evidence of Continued Professional Development that supports clinical practice.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- A working knowledge of physical health conditions that can cause contra-indications for the patient, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.
- Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments.
- Can demonstrate a working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that this can cause to patients experiencing mental ill health.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs.
- Working experience within acute Mental Health Services – can be via degree placements
