Are you a Specialist Speech and language Therapist looking for an opportunity further develop your Clinical practice and leadership skills working with Adults who have Learning Disabilities?
This post offers the opportunity to develop your clinical skills in communication and dysphagia to manage complex cases and to lead on a clinical area within SLT across the ICS. You will be part of a team of Highly Specialist SLTs working alongside the Principal SLT to develop service delivery and manage waiting lists and caseloads across the ICS to ensure the delivery of a safe and equitable service. The post holder will join the team at a time of change and although they will have a focus on the Pennine team they will be expected to be involved in developing new approaches to developing robust supervision systems and developing NQPs.
The Trust is actively supporting the development of AHPs into Advanced Clinical practitioner roles and Masters Programs.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
- Current professional registration with HCPC as Speech and Language Therapist and responsibility for maintaining this registration
- Masters module/post grad qualification in relevant field of clinical expertise (or working towards) / post-grad qualification/equivalent knowledge & experience to masters level Evidence of CPD in related field of clinical expertise (Autism, Mental Health).
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In depth knowledge relevant to the post including dysphagia , positive behavioural approaches and Learning disabilities
- Understanding of clinical governance framework and implications for practice including audit and research governance
- In-depth understanding of current NHS/government policy/Public Health/NICE guidelines on organisational change and the ability to adapt these appropriately to local service needs through publication of documents.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable evidence of improving and developing service and practice
- Supervision and/or mentoring of staff/students.
- Highly advanced and specialised practice skills in field of expertise including dysphagia, behaviours that challenge and learning disabilities
