Probationary Period

All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working

All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.

Job overview

Applications are invited to apply for the post of Specialty Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Warwick Hospital.

The team is made up of Consultants, Associate Specialist, Specialty Doctors and training Registrars. These positions are supported by Junior and Foundation doctors, an Orthogeriatric Specialty Doctor and also Advanced Physiotherapists, Orthopaedic nurse practitioners and ACPs.

Main duties of the job

The emphasis of this role is to support the Emergency Department with the management and flow of Trauma and Orthopaedic admissions. The role will work closely with the ED team to manage these patients in a timely manner and to support the flow pressures throughout the organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to contribute to both elective and emergency work and will also be required to participate in an on-call rota for out of hours and weekend cover. The department regularly supports with teaching for both Warwick and Buckinghamshire Medical Schools. There will be opportunities for training, CPD and research.

Essential criteria
  • Previous Orthopaedic experience in both elective and trauma services in the NHS
Desirable criteria
  • Previous registrar level experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics
