Are you a dietitian looking for an exciting start to your career with a rotational Band 5 post?  Keen to work with a team that is ready to support your personal development needs and individual dietetic interests?  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly team who deliver services in acute and primary care, and public health.

Our programme of rotations offers the opportunity to experience and develop knowledge across a wide variety of specialisms across both hospital and outpatient services whilst enabling the development of core skills to achieve a broad base for ongoing dietetic practice. 

Each rotation includes a core element in the provision of dietetic service to wards, outpatient clinics and delivery of a structured education.  Both inpatient and outpatient work will include the provision of a range of dietetic services including oral nutrition support, artificial nutrition support and support for gastrointestinal disorders.   

You will join a team of Band 5 Dietitians where you will be supported by Specialist Dietitians to develop competence across speciality areas.  Specialist 7 month rotations held alongside core work may include renal, paediatrics, public health, diabetes, and gastroenterology and oncology.   

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Hold a caseload and provide a Dietetic service to adults with a wide range of conditions. This involves the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management and discharge of service users.
  • Work as a member of Dietetic team and multi-disciplinary teams liaising with and advising other agencies in relation to the specific client’s needs and service delivery.

This post offers a wealth of development and progression opportunities in holding a portfolio responsibilities to ensure that clinical practice and governance are fully integral to service provision across the area.  This includes;

  • Clinical responsibilities – within one or more area team, improving basic Dietetic skill as well as working within a specific clinical area to develop specialist skills.
  • Participating in Task and Finish groups within a clinical specialist group or across a multi-disciplinary network e.g. clinical standards; training & development; audit; service user involvement; service evaluation; diet sheets.

The post holder will be a member of appropriate clinical specialist groups/multidisciplinary networks, working with support from Dietetic senior clinical staff to:

  • Undertake clinical governance responsibilities within the clinical specialist groups and multi disciplinary clinical networks.
  • Be a member of appropriate clinical specialist groups/multidisciplinary networks to support Quality Improvement and modernisation of Dietetic Services
