We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and conscientious Pharmacy Technicians to join our busy hospital pharmacy team. Previous hospital experience would be beneficial but not essential and we welcome applications from newly qualified pharmacy technicians

Your role will mainly involve undertaking duties in the dispensary but also supporting other areas of pharmacy including at ward level supporting the ward based pharmacy teams.

Opportunities will be given to develop within the department with training and accredited training programmes.

Applicants should be eligible to register at interview and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council on their start date. 

Main duties of the job

Undertakes a wide range of routine and unforeseen duties in relation to the preparation and supply of medicines and related products for service users within BCUHB.

The Pharmacy Technician is expected to exercise some autonomy and control in the performance of duties allocated within limits set by the Senior Pharmacy Technician overseeing the department and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

There are links with pharmacy staff in all sectors and other healthcare professionals to ensure that a patient-identified medicines management service is provided.  Works closely with pharmacy colleagues to adopt a team approach to medicines management, acting as a key member of the multidisciplinary and wider pharmacy team, providing medicines management advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this    post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally  welcome to apply.

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (or equivalent)
  • Willing to undertake medicines management training
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of relevant professional association
