The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.
Job overview
Demonstrates advanced specialist practice, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients throughout the pre-and peri-operative pathway.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the quality of care delivered within the clinical area, empowering and enabling the peri-operative team.
Works collaboratively and co-operatively with members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver Operating Theatre Services and provide expert advice and support for other healthcare professional and agencies.
Deputises for the Team Leader when required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse/HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
- Teaching & Assessing course or active on the mentor database
- Post registration course relevant to peri-operative area
- Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to area
- knowledge of local policies/procedures and guidelines
- knowledge of national strategies related to sphere of nursing/midwifery and current professional nursing issues
Desirable criteria
- Degree in relevant clinical/professional subject
- Management qualification
- PALS/APLS knowledge of leadership and management theories
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience
- Extensive experience in Theatre
- Management experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of undertaking research work/audit work and standard setting
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Evidence of good organisational skills
- Advanced clinical skills/knowledge relevant to area of expertise
- Evidence of people management and leadership skills alongside the ability to care with warmth and understanding
- Evidence of critical analysis skills
- Effective decision maker and problem solver
- Ability to negotiate and communicate with patients, relatives and all members of the Multidisciplinary Team
