An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring individual to join us as the Head of Quality working in the Health & Justice/Public Health Nursing and Quality team. We are seeking to recruit to this full time permanent post working within the Commissioning Integration Directorate of NHS England, Midlands Region

The post holder will lead the Health & Justice/Public Health Nursing and Quality Team working closely and in partnership with Public Health and Health & Justice commissioners to ensure delivery of NHS England’s statutory commissioning responsibilities & national strategy in relation to quality in NHS England’s directly commissioned services.

The successful post holder will have proven leadership skills and management experience and will develop effective systems and processes to ensure the commissioning of safe and clinically appropriate healthcare services, that provide assurance of good quality patient care.

 

They will work as part of a dynamic team ensuring that commissioned services are of the highest quality, meet agreed national service specifications, and national and regional policy directives and ensures systems are in place to identify and address or escalate emerging quality concerns. 

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational and communication skills with subject matter expertise relating to Health and Justice, Public Health screening and immunisation programmes, patient safety and safeguarding adults and children

Main duties of the job

Provides leadership to, and line management of the Health & Justice/Public Health Nursing & Quality Team

 

Leading the delivery of the statutory agenda in relation to commissioning of Offender Healthcare and Public Health services including Sexual Assault Services.

 

Overseeing the day to day management of the quality assurance processes for Health and Justice/Public Health within agreed Standard Operating Procedures.

 

Oversees the implementation of an overarching quality framework

 

Overseeing the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident/PSIRF process, supporting providers and commissioners in incident management as required and ensuring the learning is embedded. 

 

Leading on clinical quality visits using the quality visit framework ensuring lessons learnt are shared with commissioning and provider colleagues. 

 

Develop monthly quality surveillance and direct commissioning reports using both qualitative and quantitative data and information drawn from local, regional, and national data sources, Identify emerging trends and themes and potential quality concerns or improvements. 

 

Review and develop policies and procedures to support and reflect the activities and responsibilities outlined above

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 1. Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In depth additional expert knowledge acquired over a significant period in Health and Justice and/or Public Health
  • In depth additional expert knowledge acquired over a significant period in Quality Assurance, Improvement and Planning
  • Clinical background with experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrable senior leadership and management experience with experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals
  • Experience of providing and receiving highly complex, sensitive and contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
