We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Clerk/Receptionist to join our friendly and dynamic team at Bishops Castle Community Hospital. This is a part-time position of 30 hours per week.
The postholder will provide telephone and reception duties, and will be the first point of contact for general enquiries from visitors, staff and patients. The postholder will also provide administration support duties to the administration team, the ward and other hospital departments as required.

Main duties of the job
- To effectively deal with all incoming telephone calls via switchboard both internally and externally.
- To act as first point of contact for staff, patients and visitors and deal effectively with any enquiries.
- To input patient admission and discharges.
- To assist the nursing staff with administration duties.
- To book patient transport.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths or equivalent.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- Good organisational skills.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Reception/switchboard experience.
- Team work, multitasking and working under pressure.
- Customer service.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
