Job overview

The post is based within Children’s Community Physiotherapist, working in the community and special school settings currently within the Bristol team and as part of the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire wider service.

 

There will be opportunity to  gain experience  of working with complex neurological and developmental conditions and develop your skills within early years’ neuro-disability,  integrated OTPT, and Uni-professional assessments.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Working with children and young people in their homes, early years settings, mainstream and special schools to provide physiotherapy assessments and interventions.
  • To supervise Band 4's within the team and special school setting and support students as needed.
  • To have a knowledge of Hydrotherapy and / or interest in developing skills in this area to support special school programmes.
  • To have an interest in developing knowledge of specialist equipment and develop assessment skills for postural management.
  • To have an interest in developing knowledge of orthoses and work alongside an orthotist during assessments.

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • Current NMC registration

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post-qualification experience of working with children with needs across a range of core areas relevant to the post e.g. neurology, learning disabilities, outpatients, community, complex needs, Autism, Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner e.g., caseload management, prioritising cases, effective organisation and time management skills
  • To be able to select and carry out appropriate assessment and in-depth observation combined with appropriate discussions / liaison to form a differential diagnosis
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Experience of supervising less experienced members of staff.
