Job overview
The Children’s Therapy Services identify, assess, support and manage the health needs of children
and young people aged 0-18 years, working closely with children and their families in health settings
and family homes; and with education colleagues in early years and school settings.
The Children’s Therapy services cover Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Services
are offered in various parts of these localities to facilitate easy access for families
Main duties of the job
You will practise as a highly specialist clinical practitioner, being a source of expertise, providing support, supervision, teaching, advice and consultation across Bristol, North Somerset and South Glos (BNSSG). To offer highly specialist clinical expertise for children and young people with complex needs and/or requiring Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) support, carrying own highly specialist case load within this specified clinical area.
To lead the AAC support team across BNSSG. This team supports children and young people with AAC needs across Early Years and School settings, both mainstream and specialist.
You will provide expert second opinion and support to clinical staff in regards to this clinical specialism.
You will work alongside Band 8a Clinical and Professional Leads to develop and improve service delivery for this cohort of children, ensuring services are high quality and evidence based.
You will liaise closely with AAC West, our regional AAC Hub, to make referrals and provide follow up support to children and families following AAC West assessment and input.

- Understand and manage activity and performance in a team

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
