Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and driven team providing stroke rehabilitation and care to people in their homes after a stroke.
Working with other nursing leads and leads from other professions you will help with the operational running of the service as well as work on service developments and provide clinical expertise and support to the nursing and wider team.

This role has a strong operational component with additional  responsibility for oversight of the team in the Bristol area.
The role includes direct supervision of other nurses and providing second opinions and clinical cover  but will not regularly hold a patient caseload. The balance of clinical and operational duties will be regularly reviewed.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide day to day operational management and coordination of resources making sure that the service is responsive to the needs of the service users and their carers and to the changing demands of the local health community.
  • Provide leadership, clinical support and supervision to motivate team members and develop effective team working and personal development.
  • Triage referrals & be a key point of contact for the community stroke service
  • Provide education and training to groups of staff and colleagues as required.
  • To be responsible for your own and supervisees Clinical Governance and lead be involved in audit and risk management
  • To be responsible for supervising more junior staff, on a daily basis, monitoring their caseload management, observing them with patients and providing performance feedback including their PDR
  • To demonstrate ability to support patients to self-manage their long term condition

  • Batchelors degree in nursing or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Non- medical prescriber or willing to complete
  • Study at masters level
