An exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join Bwthyn Y Ddol; a multi-agency team working in Conwy and Denbighshire. This is an innovative, one-of-a-kind service with integration at its core. By bringing Social Care and CAMHS together in practice, we believe we can achieve more for children and young people.

You will contribute to the development and leadership of a joint agency team set up to provide responsive, intensive support to children (6 – 17 yrs) who are on the edge of care. You will be part of a team of experienced professionals working into a purpose-built residential assessment centre, as well as with families in the community. You will draw on your expertise of multiple psychological models in contributing to intensive and robust assessment, formulation and direct therapeutic support to a small caseload. Consultation with families and colleagues, training and clinical supervision will form a large part of this role, liaising closely with colleagues in local services, and there will be protected time for service development and evaluation. This post will play a key role in the strategic leadership of our other CAMHS/Local Authority projects.

We believe this is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of some of the most disadvantaged children and young people in our area. The post holder will join the Child Clinical Psychology community within BCUHB, with close links to the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme. 

Main duties of the job

To lead on the development and delivery of a highly specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the sector within a joint Social Care and BCUHB Edge of Care service and partnership across Conwy and Denbighshire areas.

To lead on the review, development, implementation and evaluation of a programme of specialised psychological assessment, complex formulation and multi-modal therapeutic interventions to clients and their families in the Bwthyn Y Ddôl service where there is vulnerability of a child entering care, significant multi-level child and family risk concerns and crisis.

Jointly with the Bwthyn Y Ddôl Team Manger and responsible Local Authority Service Manager to lead a team of multi-disciplinary professionals in delivering a specialist Edge of Care therapeutic model.

To have responsibility for the professional leadership and management of clinical psychologists, and assistant psychologists within the Bwthyn Y Ddôl service, where applicable.

Within the Bwthyn Y Ddôl service to carry a highly specialist clinical caseload of clients within a whole family approach where there are complex and enduring individual and systemic needs.

To provide clinical supervision and management of clinical practice to multi-disciplinary professionals and clinical psychology staff within a specialist Edge of Care service.

To provide relevant teaching and training for multi-disciplinary Bwthyn Y Ddôl professionals and for the NWCPP doctoral training programme.
