Job overview

Main duties of the job

The Primary and Community Care Academy in North Wales in partnership with West End Medical Centre is developing a Multi-Disciplinary Practitioner Training Hub in North Wales  to offer a range of training and learning opportunities for the current and next generation of primary and community care practitioners.

West End Medical Centre is situated in Colwyn Bay, with a list size of 18,400 patients. West End Medical Centre is focused on delivering a social model of care and has a multi-Disciplinary team including GPs, Nurses, Physiotherapists and Pharmacists. The practice is also moving towards recruitment of other health care professionals such as Advanced Practice Paramedics and Physicians Associates.

The Training Team will also include GPs. The Team will work collaboratively to deliver the range of training, education and skills enhancement opportunities at the Medical Centre, regionally as members of the Academy faculty and will actively promote and undertake clinical research at the practice.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered pharmacist with GPhC
  • Masters Degree or equivalent in pharmacy
  • Post-graduate diploma/MSc in a relevant area/speciality or equivalent documented credentialing/experience in relevant area
  • Independent prescriber
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading and delivering research
  • Teaching/assessing qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working effectively in a multi disciplinary environment
  • A substantive level of post qualification experience in primary care
  • Tutoring/mentoring/teaching experience at an advanced practice/post-graduate level within the area of clinical specialist practice
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of acting as a Designated Prescribing Practitioner

Skills

  • Operational management experience
  • Ability to demonstrate effective partnership working
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
