Clinical Fellow - Health and Justice

NHS TSC 2023: Band 8a

Job overview

Health & Justice Nursing Clinical Fellow

Band 8A (0.5 WTE Secondment)

Do you aspire to be a clinical leader of the future? Would you relish the opportunity to play a part in delivering the commitments of the long-term workforce plan and supporting regional workforce priorities in the northwest region?

The Health & Justice nursing workforce has specific challenges in terms of recruitment and retention, partly due to the challenges associated with the unique environment and partly due to a lack of visibility of the setting as a career option for pre-registration learners. The Clinical Fellow will undertake a focused programme of work to explore and understand the challenges and work with key stakeholders to identify potential solutions and recommendations.

The Clinical Fellow will be part of a cohort of Clinical Fellows from a variety of professional backgrounds. The fellowship approach includes dedicated time for personal development of leadership and other key skills as agreed with the successful candidate.  The part-time nature of the post will enable you to continue your clinical practice and put your newfound skills and understanding to use straight away. You will need to secure support from your substantive employer to release you for the duration of the secondment and to work with us to support your development.

For enquiries or to arrange an informal discussion, please contact: Jean Hayles, Head of Nursing, Midwifery & Public Health [email protected]

Working for our organisation

In April 2023, NHS England, NHS Digital, and Health Education England merged to create a new, single organisation to lead the NHS in England. This new NHS England is designed to create a simpler, smaller, high performing, organisation that leads the NHS more effectively and is a better place to work. Speaking with one voice to the service.

The new NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
  • Delivering value for money.
