Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent, confident, and enthusiastic band 5 Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator to join our team. The new role of Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator is based within The Activity Centre Team, Secure Inpatient Services at Ridgeway, Roseberry Park Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The team works with individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism within the context of forensic medium and low inpatient settings.
The post holder will support patients alongside the The Activity Centre, Occupational Therapy and Education team within forensic mental health, learning disabilities and autism by developing, monitoring, and delivering vocational rehabilitation to individuals within secure inpatient services.
The post holder will be a pivotal link between The Activity Team, The Occupational Therapy Team, including education and the Recovery & Cocreation team to deliver vocational rehabilitation across the wider service and community.
Main duties of the job
· To be responsible for working with patients, completing and contributing to assessments and interventions which support recovery through vocational rehabilitation
· To promote, deliver and participate in clinical supervision
· To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working
· To contribute to safety and quality improvement activities as part of Ridgeway.
· To use the Trust electronic patient record system
· To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
· To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges

· Working within TEWV provides many opportunities for development, training and support. Within Secure Inpatient Services there is a supportive leadership structure for Therapies as well as clinical leadership.
· All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the people we work with and their families/carers.
· Clinical/Professional supervision is provided by the supervising nurse/OT/Education lead, where appropriate. The post holder will contribute and attend learning and developments appropriate to the post. Line Management will be provided by the Activity Centre Manager.

You must be able to demonstrate experience of working alongside professionals and experience of paid or voluntary work with people with mental health conditions or learning disabilities. And a keenness to continually develop yourself and others. We will support use of transferrable skills from a range of clinical settings.
There are varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Awareness of the needs and difficulties of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities.
- Awareness of the needs of individuals from diverse social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- Safeguarding requirements for vulnerable adults and children
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate information (verbal and written) effectively in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation
- Ability to adapt treatment using own initiative
- Good observational skills and ability to describe such observations verbally and in writing.
- Ability to plan and organise a given caseload and prioritise effectively.
Desirable criteria
- Skilled in the provision of therapeutic activity
- Able to deliver educational content when required
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 in Care or Appropriate AVCE in Health & Social Care
- Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- Experience supporting identified patient group with vocational roles
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience or paid or voluntary work with adults with learning disability and /or Autism spectrum conditions and/or mental health conditions.
- Experience of organising and running activities of a therapeutic nature
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working within secure services.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working alongside occupational therapists.
- Experience of Recovery College courses and recovery focused events
- Experience of presenting to groups of people
